Matthew Williamson Designer Chairs
Matthew Williamson was born in 1971 in Manchester. After gaining a scholarship at St Martins Collage of Art and Design in 1994 he went on to create his own fashion house in 1997. Incredibly he debuted his first collection, Electric Angels’ at London Fashion week that same year.
Williamson is certainly a huge success story for British fashion with a number of awards to his name. His 2007 runway show was featured in a Prince video and the design museum even hosted a retrospective of his work so far.
What Defines Matthew Williamson?
Colourful, bright, bubbly and joyful are just some of the words used to describe what Williamson creates. His clear love to nature’s colours and patterns shines through in his Flamingo Club and Habanera fabrics to name just two. He brings a depth and richness of colour to all his work that is hard to match among his peers.
Over the last 5 years Matthew Williamson has made a firm move into the lifestyle arena where he now produces a range of furniture, fabrics and fragrances. His first foray into this world was via a collaboration with Osborne & Little in 2013 where he created a range of fabrics and wall papers. A second collection was launched in 2014 and more since.
As a brand Matthew Williamson now has it’s own website with a huge range of products from clothing right through to a number of lifestyle products. All of these carry his trademark signature aesthetic.
Our Matthew Williamson Chairs
Here at Cheeky Chairs we have long since been in love with Matthew’s work and his approach to fashion and design as a whole. We particularly love his Cubana Collection that was inspired by the glamour and excitement of pre-revolutionary Cuba. Printed on the finest cotton, the exotic palette includes rich shades of jade, peach, coral, turquoise and ultramarine. We adore creating chairs with his stunning fabrics and pairing them with vivid colours as well as more natural finishes.
Our designer dining chairs, boudoir chairs and bar stools feature a range of designer fabrics including Matthew Williamson.
